About Cashroom
Built by a math teacher who runs one every day
Cashroom started in one 8th grade classroom, for students who were ready to do more with class money than collect it. It runs there now, every school day, which is how it keeps getting better.

Hi, I'm Tree
I'm Theresa Booher, and my students call me Ms. Tree. I teach 8th grade Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 in Florida, and I've been teaching since 2009. Along the way I've taught computer science and math and coached other teachers, and I also ran the technology side of schools and companies as an IT director.
I've run a classroom economy for years, and I've tried a lot of programs. Every one of them did part of what I wanted. None of them did all of it.
I wanted my students to do more than watch a number go up. I wanted them to do the math and balance their own checking and savings. I wanted them to understand interest, and to see how a CD can earn more passive money than a savings account alone. I wanted them to learn what a credit score is and how it affects everyday life, the way it does in my class, where your score decides which loans you can take out and how much interest you pay back. And I wanted it to be fun: coupons for the holidays, for special occasions, or just because a student did something good; raffles; class competitions. Kids learn more when they're having fun.
No program did all of that, so I built Cashroom.
When my students walk out of my class in June, I want them to carry real financial literacy with them. Not just the basics, but the kind that follows them into adulthood.
Both of my careers show up in it. The teacher in me knows a tool has to work in the four minutes before the bell. The IT director in me knows student data is not something you take chances with.

What Cashroom believes
- Students do the math
- Money doesn't count until the student works out the new balance. All those small, real calculations add up over a school year.
- Everything has a real-world twin
- Paychecks, rent, savings interest, credit scores, and loans work the way they do outside school, scaled down to class size.
- Privacy comes first
- First name and last initial only. No ads, no tracking, no AI, and student data is never sold or shared.
- The teacher stays in charge
- Every rule is a setting, every dollar has a record, and a wrong award comes back with one tap.
Where things stand
Cashroom went live in a classroom pilot in October 2026. Paydays, bills, savings interest, the class store, coupons, auctions, credit scores, and loans are all running with real students. CDs, raffles, and class competitions are next. New teacher accounts open once the pilot wraps up.
